BIG WIN FOR SUBARU CANADA
AT 2008 NAMMU AWARDS
Toronto, November
12, 2008…Rapp Collins, a division of DDB Canada, took home the
business to consumer Multi Media Mail Award for their outstanding 2008
Subaru Impreza Launch campaign at the 2008 NAMMU’s, held November 4 at
the Design Exchange. The NAMMU jury also awarded this campaign the ALL
STAR TEAM honors to the delight of all those involved.
With a tiny market
share, extremely tough competition and a new Impreza to launch, what
was Subaru to do? Appeal to drivers in a whole new way. Enter a
brilliant multi media story about the Japanese car the Germans wished
they’d made.
The DM component
focuses on an engineer working for a German auto maker who discovers
the Impreza and how “wunderbar” it is to drive. It’s an air mail
letter from Gunter Schroder, who, as a trained engineer dedicated to
excellence, realizes the Impreza’s superiority. He claims he could not
live with himself if he did not divulge his “fantastisch” find.
Mailennium
President, Laura Artibello, presented both awards. In his remarks from
the podium, NAMMU Head Judge, Alan Brodeur, said “It’s a campaign
other agencies wished they’d made. Showroom traffic and sales zoomed,
dealers got excited, and the online buzz led to worldwide smash
success.”
As head of the NAMMU Value Add Mailer (VAM) Council, Mailennium President, Laura
Artibello, noted the importance of the ALL STAR TEAM Award. “This
award is all about teamwork and the difference it can make between
good work and truly outstanding work. It reflects the contribution of
all the players, and the excellence and commitment they brought to
each facet of the work. Congratulations Rapp Collins. Congratulations PLM Group.”
