Siobhain O’Reilly Wins Coveted Dave Taylor Award

Toronto, November 12, 2008…Insight, talent, and a fresh approach to reach consumers who have already heard it all earned Siobhain O’Reilly, Managing Writer, Capital One internal creative team, the coveted 2008 Dave Taylor Award for the Bumper Sticker Package. The special NAMMU jury picked the Capital One entry from a highly competitive field and honored Siobhain O’Reilly at the 2008 NAMMU Awards held November 4 at the Design Exchange.

In this Award winning campaign, Siobhain persuaded many Canadians to try the country’s lowest long-term credit card rate. Using one of the universal ways we express passion, the envelope features a car bumper covered with proud proclamations. Inside is straightforward, honest language that asks “Ms. Sample” if she can “blame us for being a little excited” about being able to offer her such a great rate. The kicker is a real bumper sticker saying “Honk! If you have Canada’s lowest rates.”

Along with the great offer, the copy definitely helped drive home a huge win in customer acquisition for Capital One. This original campaign definitely earned top marks and a huge win for Siobhain O’Reilly, recipient of the 2008 Dave Taylor Award for Copywriting Excellence.

Allison Taylor, President, TCP Integrated Marketing, daughter of the late Dave Taylor, and Tony Keenan, Chairman, SBS Communications, presented the award. Noted Allison “My father was a mentor to a whole generation of writers and this award is very near to my heart. I know he would be proud of this very worthy recipient.”  Tony Keenan added  “Dave loved carefully chosen words. And with this work tonight we’ve seen a masterful glimpse of their importance. Congratulations Siobhain!”
