UNICEF Campaign Wins NAMMU 2008 BEST
OF THE BEST
Toronto,
November 12, 2008…Original thinking and simple truths made the entry
by Rapp Collins, a division of DDB Canada, of the UNICEF Canada New
Monthly Donor Campaign, the top jury pick for the BEST OF THE BEST
Award at the 2008 NAMMU’s held November 4 at the Design Exchange.
The campaign scored
top marks with the judges and first won the entry category of
Addressed Admail, Fundraising, business to consumer. Who can resist
the idea that saving the world could possibly be within reach? The
sheer emotional force of this Rapp Collins’ campaign and the beauty of
its reveal demonstrate what original thinking can accomplish in
driving home simple truths – which are never as simple as they seem.
“This child has a
drinking problem.” That’s the line under a photo of a serious young
black boy which opens up to say more than 6,000 children die every day
from drinking contaminated water. “This child is worried about her
weight.” – heads the information that more than a quarter of the
children in the developing world are chronically undernourished.
Familiar lines ripped from today’s news tell completely unexpected and
alarming facts. Each new reveal in this fascinating story draws the
reader deeper into the heart of an irresistible UNICEF message: it’s
possible to help.
NAMMU head judge, Alan
Brodeur, said “The jury was unanimous on this pick for the top award.
This provocative package achieved results vastly over expectations.
From the remarkable lift in monthly and single donations to
acclamation and increased profile for the global UNICEF organization,
the campaign was an effective hit.”
Serge Pitre,
Vice-President National Sales, Canada Post Corporation, presented the
2008 BEST OF THE BEST Award, to the very excited team from Rapp
Collins, a division of DDB Canada. Noted NAMMU President, Kathleen
Rowe, “Through this UNICEF Canada campaign, Rapp Collins has really
shown us what imagination can do in our business. Thank you!”
