NOT SO CORNY: BOS TAKES TOP NAMMU AWARD
Corn spies, who knew? Bos did and created a theme of international
espionage to promote OPERATION SWITCHPOINT, a full day conference
for Canadian corn growers, by Syngenta Crop Protection Ltd. Not
only did this intriguing interactive piece result in a packed
conference hall and a huge lift in sales, it generated significant
media coverage. According to Syngenta President, Jay Bradshaw, Bos
delivered the most successful grower event in 25 years. And Peter
Melanson, Senior Vice-President, Transaction Mail, delivered the
top honors of the NAMMU Best of the Best Award to the delighted
Bos team, November 7th at the Design Exchange. Great mail
campaigns were honored at the 2007 NAMMU Awards, and the best in
mail captured the prizes.

ROGERS EBILL ENHANCEMENTS
Rogers ebill design is no longer just a copy of a paper bill
posted online. It offers enhanced features that allow customers to
navigate their bill, prioritize what is important, download call
records, and more. The new ebill is available to all subscribers
at rogers.com or through Canada Post’s epost service. An online
demo is posted at
www.rogers.com/ebilldemo. According to Performance (December
2007) to develop the new ebill and promote it to subscribers,
Rogers worked closely with Canada Post, and the SmartFlow Send
Team, and developed a multi-channel marketing campaign to increase
usage of ebill. A joint marketing campaign with Rogers planned for
early 2008 is Canada Post’s largest ebill marketing initiative for
a single customer. Tactics include promotional inserts in Rogers
bill statements, targeted Admail, flyers at Rogers retail outlets,
and online ads at rogers.com and canadapost.ca Rogers expects this
campaign to help boost usage of the online bill up to 40 per cent
within the next year.
AEROPLAN MEMBERS CAN OFFSET CARBON EMISSIONS
The Aeroplan customer loyalty program has launched a carbon-offset
plan to let Aeroplan members offset the carbon emissions generated
by reward travel. Members can redeem their miles for carbon-offset
credits found in Aeroplan’s online activities and merchandise
catalogue. At the end of each month, all the reward travel
carbon-offset miles will be converted to dollars to contribute to
the new, non-profit Carbon Reduction Fund. The Fund, in turn,
backs energy efficiency and other environmental projects, the
majority in Canada. Aeroplan reportedly has already contributed
2.5 million miles to the fund, and partners, American Express and
CIBC, have reportedly added 4 million miles.
LIBRARY BOOK RATE PROGRAM UPDATE
Canada Post has announced the Library Book Rates in effect since
2005 will remain in place through 2008. Maintaining the Library
Book Rate for another year will provide all stakeholders with a
better opportunity to ensure that the library’s community concerns
are understand and taken into consideration – and that the Library
Book Rate continues to be available to eligible libraries in the
future. To quantify the financial impact for Canada Post,
participating libraries are using electronic shipping tools to
capture specific data. The 2008 parcel services price book and
quick reference charts, specific to each customer’s Parcel
Services Agreement, are in the mail.
