WINNIPEG CHAPTER START-UP
It’s official! As of January 2007, NAMMU will launch chapter
meetings in Winnipeg to better meet local members’ needs. The
start-up plan for 2007 calls for a minimum of two to three meetings,
including a national information session at the outset. Following
the successful template of other regional chapters, the agendas will
focus on items prioritized by members and other interested parties.
Shirley Neil, Manitoba Hydro, will chair the Winnipeg chapter
meetings, and members are invited to contact her with agenda items.
If you would like to assist in setting up the chapter, your
involvement would be appreciated. Meeting details will be released
in January. Contact:

LETTERMAIL INCENTIVE PRODUCT REPORTING
Canada Post is meeting one on one with clients who are impacted by
the two weight band pricing/reporting requirements for January 2007.
Short term for 2007, the basic requirement is for the number of
items within each weight band. NAMMU is urging all members in
difficulty for the January start to first speak with their Canada
Post representative. Chapter Directors will be asked to add an
agenda item to cover directional thinking on the Lettermail
incentive products, as early as possible in the new year. Software
and programming investment for the more specific reporting demands
in subsequent years requires this dialogue with Canada Post.
THE NAMMU AWARDS
The “best in class” winners took the stage at the 2006 NAMMU Awards
held November 1, at the Design Exchange. Strategies Marketing Direct
- the 2005 Best of the Best award winner – raised the bar again for
the 2006 Call for Entry campaign, broadening the exposure and
heightening results of the 2006 campaign. NAMMU President, Kathleen
Rowe stated: “The creative concept, marketing strategy, and complete
re-design of the entry form were integral parts of this success
story. We are grateful to Mark Morin and his team for this excellent
result.”
Also in line for
kudos, the judging team of: Tony Keenan, Chairman, Sears Business
Solutions, and Head Judge Emeritus; Alan Brodeur, Head Judge, Awards
Planning Committee member, and Master of Ceremonies; Emma Warrillow,
Emma Warrillow & Associates Inc.; John Stevenson, President,
Information Concepts & Technology. This exceptional program of
recognition and reward is supported by exceptional individuals and
organizations, each playing a vital role. Thanks go out to: Philip
Berry, Mailennium; the team at Bassett Direct; Duncan Weenen, SBS;
Al Blackman, Wood & Associates Direct Marketing Services Ltd.; the
team at TCP Integrated Marketing Inc.; Genna Wobbe, DataFix; Rich
Richardson, The LGR Group; Jennifer Taylor, the NAMMU Awards Event
Co-ordinator; Sheila Mudrick, writer; Jocelyn Brodeur, Awards
presenter. And all of the activity could not happen without the
support of the 2006 NAMMU Corporate Sponsors and 2006 Awards Event
Sponsors.
In a highly
competitive field of entries, the stars shone brightly. The NAMMU
Awards annually reward excellence in marketing through the medium of
mail.
