DAVIS + HENDERSON TO ACQUIRE FILOGIX
Davis + Henderson, an integrated supplier to the retail operations of Canada’s financial institutions, recently announced an agreement to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Filogix Holdings Inc. for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $212.5 million. Filogix is the leading supplier in Canada of information and transaction technology for the residential mortgages and real estate markets. Davis + Henderson is the leading provider of cheque supply programs and related services through their customers to 20 million individual account holders, as well as cheque and deposit programs to more than one million small business enterprises. The strategically aligned acquisition of Filogix adds a meaningful additional platform to Davis + Henderson’s overall business, providing additional revenue diversification. ROGERS CFO LINTON PREDICTS METERED ON-LINE BILLING
Rogers Communications Inc. chief financial officer, Bill Linton, says the internet industry must move toward a “metered” billing system in the future as customers increasingly download video and other bandwidth-intensive applications. Speaking at Morgan Stanley’s 11th Annual Media & Communications Conference in Washington, Mr. Linton said: “Usage is going up and it costs a lot of money to produce that capacity.” Cable companies are increasing the speeds of their Internet services as consumers spend more time on-line watching movies, listening to music, and playing games. Rogers currently offers four different speeds of Internet service, but Linton speculates the company could one day have many more. He stressed the objective is not to restrict usage, rather for customers to use the service as much as they want and to pay for what they use. Read more:

The January 2006 re-structuring of Canada Post introduced a reorganization based on three lines of business: Transaction Mail (bills, invoices, notices, statements); Direct Marketing; and Parcels.
