ATB FINANCIAL AND SYMCOR
SIGN DEAL
ATB Financial has signed a five year, $31 million
agreement with Symcor Inc., whereby Symcor will provide
image-based processing services starting October 21,2005.
Symcor’s services will include clearing and back-office
processing, including cheque and bill clearing and processing
services, statement production (except Mastercard), remittance
and tracing services, out of province clearing and inter-branch
mail services.
ATB
Financial is the largest Alberta-based financial institution.
ATB is confident Symcor will transition its item processing
services to a cost-effective, image-based platform, as part of
its TECP (truncation and electronic cheque presentment)
strategy. TECP is the Canadian Payment Association’s initiative
that requires member financial institutions to offer image based
services to eliminate the need for paper-based item exchange
