Publications Mail Council: Win-Win-Win

Toronto, February 10, 2005….Launched at Quebecor World, Richmond Hill, February 2, the NAMMU Publications Mail Council is already impressing printers, publishers, data managers, circulators, value add mailers, with its potential.

“The word spread from those attending the initial meeting, and now we’re receiving inquiries from a variety of mailing industry stakeholders within and outside Canada. What is really impressive is the positive energy created by bringing all the stakeholders of Publications Mail to the table: It’s a win for Canada Post as a one stop consultation method; a win for publishers, circulators and agencies as the ideas previewed are given a reality check by each component in the supply chain; a win for the supply chain as each component can evaluate impact for her/his business” noted NAMMU president, Kathleen Rowe.

Rowe fully credits the NAMMU members who saw the need for this Council and singled out Transcontinental and Quebecor World for their strong support. The first meeting saw Ernie Judd, Quebecor World, and moderator of this first meeting, demonstrate the clear recipe for success: inclusion.

The formula presented at the meeting by Judd included all components in the Publications Mail process from concept to consumer: Publishers, Data, Printers, Bindery, Value Add Mailers, Transport, Canada Post.

Next steps include issue gathering and prioritization for the next Council meeting in March.  “We are also anticipating a preview of coming changes to Publications Mail to be presented at that session” added Rowe. The Council will then use all of this input as the springboard for future meetings.
