ACCENTURE SURVEY: CONSUMER EXPECTATIONS HIGH
According to an international survey by management consultancy
Accenture, companies that don’t invest in customer service risk
losing clients as consumer expectations evolve faster than firms’
ability to meet them. Reported in The Gazette (Business, R. Rocha,
January 8, 2008) the Accenture on-line survey done in Canada,
Australia, Brazil, China, U.S., Britain and France, says more
consumers expect faster service and problems to be resolved with a
single call. Canadians are among the more demanding customers – 60
per cent expect service representatives to spend more time answering
questions, compared with the 54 per cent global average; and 58 per
cent expect rewards for being a good customer. One quarter of
Canadian customers switched stores because of service
dissatisfaction, followed by banks at 16 per cent, and Internet
service providers at 14 per cent. Canadians are also among the more
loyal clients, with nearly 80 per cent much more inclined to stay
with a company that offers good service, compared with the 77 per
cent global average. Learn more:
