SYMCOR APPOINTS NEW CEO
Ed Kilroy has been named Chief Executive Officer, Symcor Inc.,
according to an announcement by Fred Tomczyk, Symcor’s Chairman of
The Board, and Vice-Chairman, Corporate Operations TD Bank Financial
Services. As of January 10, Kilroy leads Symcor’s continued strategy
to combine efficient conventional transactions with new technology
to help transform and enhance their customers’ businesses. He most
recently served as President, IBM Canada. Symcor Inc. is a leading
North American provider of business process outsourcing, including
check processing, payment processing, statement production and

Symcor also recently announced a 10-year
agreement with Laurentian Bank of Canada to provide image-based
check processing services across Canada. The agreement is valued at
approximately $20 million and is expected to start Spring 2005.
CANADA POST SAYS : GO FETCHTM
Launched January 24 in Calgary, FETCHTM was developed by Canada Post
to help consumers take control of how, when and where they interact
with advertisers. Calgarians will see the FETCHTM symbol in magazine
advertisements, billboards, television, online and hear the FETCHTM
sound on the radio. To request more information about the product or
service advertised, or to participate in a special offer, consumers
simply look for the FETCHTM keyword and call 1-877-FETCH-03, or text
the defined keyword to FETCH (33824) using the text messaging
feature on their mobile phone. Calgarians are also being encouraged
to register as a FETCHTM user via the website for even faster
response:
www.fetch4.info Aside from being instantaneous, the service is
completely anonymous. User information is never shared with any of
the advertising partners. Personal privacy is completely protected
by Canada Post.
To date, twelve organizations in the Calgary area
(including Shoppers Drug Mart, Safeway, Telus, Domino’s Pizza, Royal
Lepage, H&R Block, CitiFinancial) will be using FETCHTM . The
service is the result of three years of work between Canada Post and
its development partners: Sun Microsystems, Pulse, Impact Mobile,
CGI and Innovapost.

FEBRUARY DECLARED FRAUD AWARENESS MONTH
Hans Wobbe, President DataFix, and NAMMU Director Data Management
and Privacy, will be participating and reporting relevant issues
from the four main sessions taking place during the month of
February, declared FRAUD AWARENESS MONTH by Visa Canada, the RCMP
and the Competition Bureau. Among other issues, Hans will be
representing NAMMU member interests in mail fraud activities,
